Lent – March 2 through April 16, 2022

I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

Bible heroes didn’t start out as moral champions.  Moses was a murderer. Isaiah had a foul mouth.  Peter was a coward.  God had a divine plan, however, and these integral players pivoted toward their divine purpose.  This Lenten season is an opportunity for you to pivot away from injury to experience healing through Jesus’ love and mercy.

Hope is our theme.  Healing is our hope.

Together, let’s think about the outbreak of moral injury in our lives over the past two years and the church’s call to represent Jesus’ healing ministry.

How will all of us respond to that call?

Join us for worship every Sunday during Lent at 8:30 AM or 11:00 AM on campus and/or 11 AM online on our website, Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Order easter flower to adorn the sanctuary easter morning

Spring flowers are a beautiful visual reminder of the resurrection every year.  You can purchase your preferred resurrection expressions to adorn the sanctuary for our on-campus and online Easter worship services. Further, this contribution can be a memorial or honorarium for your loved ones. Order flowers using this form.

Please place your order by Tues., April 5. You may pick-up your flowers after the 11 AM service on April 17 or at the church office on Tuesday, April 19. Leave a comment or instructions if you need to make other arrangements for pick-up.

daily devotion for adult faith formation

The journey from broken to whole is not an instantaneous transformation.  Saul, a religious zealot who persecuted believers in The Way of Jesus, was miraculously changed in a sudden, blinding-light experience. He changed his name to Paul in a moment, but it took him a lifetime to to grow fully into the mystery of his calling and the abundant fullness of grace that God shared with him.

Pastor Susan has written a daily devotion for this season of Lent for adults to encounter the transformative power of the Spirit in daily practice and formation.

Breaking the Chains: A family friendly lenten devotional

“Breaking the Chains” is an engaging, family-friendly, creative Lenten resource for individuals, families, groups, and congregations, inviting all of us to let words of Scripture and daily practices of liberation be our guides through this mysterious season.

Each day, break a link in the paper chain (purple links for the 40 days of Lent, and white links for the 7 Sundays) and practice resurrection. Take part in God’s chain-breaking, art-making, world-changing grace – all the way to the joyful freedom of Easter morning!

Available in the Narthex.  If you cannot get to the church to pick up your family devotion, contact the church office (859) 647-5000 Ext. 1

Sunday morning faith formation for all ages

As we emerge from the hibernation of winter, are you and your family desiring connections with others? During this year of rebuilding, Florence Christian Church is seeking to provide opportunities for connection during this season of Lent.

Florence Christian is providing  faith formation opportunities for all family members starting at 9:30 AM!

For infant, toddles, and preschoolers, our amazing childcare workers provide a loving and safe place for little ones to play and hear a Bible story in age-appropriate ways. This is in the nursery located in the Discover Zone by the playground entrance.

For children ages 5 – 9, Ms. Clara provides faith activities and stories called “Pivot People” based on the Sunday scripture used in sanctuary worship.  This is in the lower-level middle area of the Atrium.

For our tweens and early teens (ages 10+) Shannon Galbraith-Kent provides a place of connection, conversation, and snacks to share about life and connect daily living with faith. This is in the Youth Room located in the Activity Center.

For older teens and adults, Glenna Galbraith is leading a book study on Half-Truths by Adam Hamilton. In this book, adults explore common phrases that Christians say through a lens of scripture, tradition and experience. This is in the NEW Conference Room in the Admin Wing.

These offerings are at 9:30 AM on Sundays, March 13 – April 3. On Sunday, April 10 we will join together to prepare for Easter Sunday by stuffing Easter Eggs!
