Putting Up Walls!

Every week there are more changes to the admin wing. Progress continues apace. Now that framing is complete, dry wall is going up as well as continued electrical work. Each day minor changes are made. In the next few weeks, flooring and other finishes will begin. Then, the transformation really happens!

Thanks to the amazing hard work of our team the project is moving along. Despite all the challenges presented by the continued global pandemic it is on schedule to be completed in January 2022.  Moving into the renovated office space, opening the shower ministry, and a celebration are to come in the following months. Total completion of the Admin Wing will be late winter/early spring 2022. Phase One Renovation completion, which includes the roofs, does not have a timeline yet.

Renovations Fundraising Spotlight:
Pappy for Dignity Raffle

We are so pleased to announce that our Pappy for Dignity Raffle raised $33,600. This amount is 17 times the amount of the value of the goods and our expenses. A real-life example of God’s multiplication! On Sunday, October 24 at 12 Noon, our winner was chosen to be Chris from Chicago. [Fun Fact: The winner from the 2019 raffle also was from the Chicago Area.] Most of our raffle tickets were sold to individuals who are not ministry partners. Many don’t even live in the area. People participated in this raffle broadcast live on Facebook from Florida to Alaska. We even had inquiries from people living outside the US including Scotland and India. (They were not able to buy tickets because we were not equipped to ship internationally!) We are so grateful to our donor and to everyone who participated.

Phase One Renovations include:

  • Replacing Admin Wing roof (completed Winter 2020/2021 due to unexpected roof damage and flooding)
  • Bell Tower removal (completed Spring of 2021 due to safety concerns) with plans for rebuilding in future renovations
  • Expansion of the Shower Ministry to include two showers, laundry facilities, and expanded hospitality
  • Updating the HVAC, electrical, flooring, and design of the Admin wing to meet ministry needs and goals
  • Replace all remaining roofs on the campus

To Note:

  • The construction dumpster has been placed between the street and the Care and Share Pantry to minimize parking disruptions.
  • Temporary restroom usage adjustments due to lack of access are as follows: When the Narthex and Well are open to the public during the day, the Men’s restroom will be accessible as a single gender inclusive restroom. (Remember to flip the lock when you enter!). The Women’s restroom will be utilized by the Discover Zone students. After hours and on weekends, the restrooms will be used as a Men’s and Women’s.
